I’m always on the lookout for some great lunch spots to meet up with friends. One fine day, I was looking for somewhere to lunch, and we decided we needed to try out RT Rotisserie. RT stands for Rich Table, which is a fine dining restaurant in the city, and this concept is more casual dining based around rotisserie chicken, sandwiches and rice bowls. There are two locations, and my friend suggested the NOPA location, as it’s a bit further from some of the tech companies where people may be having lunch (if they aren’t too busy being catered by all their free lunches I suppose).
It’s attached to a pretty cool local grocery store as well, so if you get the chance, take a wander through it! The location is pretty small, but I think they get a lot of takeaway business as there was always a constant flow of people coming in, just most of them weren’t staying. My friend went for the rotisserie chicken and a side of shaved cabbage with almonds, but I knew I was going to have to go for the fried chicken and the roasted Brussels sprouts caesar. The chicken comes with two dipping sauces, so I got the Douglas fir sour cream and the chipotle yogurt sauces.
The fried chicken was pretty amazing. It was really tender, soft and not at all overcooked. The dipping sauces were a welcome bonus, with my favorite being the earthy Douglas fir sauce. It’s one of the best fried chickens I’ve had since moving to the bay area. Kudos to them! The sprouts were also really tasty and seasoned perfectly. All in all, the meal was a winner in my book. I didn’t get to try any of the rotisserie chicken, but my friend seemed incredibly happy with her choices.
RT Rotisserie is a pretty spectacular fast casual restaurant in the city! I’m a bit wary as there are no bookings, so I can imagine it would get quite busy during peak hours, which may be a bit of a reason to stay away, as I’m not sure it’s worth waiting a long time for. But if you can get in and get something quickly, it’s definitely a place worth checking out if you get the chance.
