When it rains, it pours, and when I want to try thick crusted Detroit-style pizza, I can’t just try one. So after really enjoying my pizza from Square Pie Guys, I kept seeing Pizza Squared on my searches. I figured “Why not?” They were slightly cheaper than Square Pie Guys and they had a more interesting selection of pizza toppings. They also do Sicilian style pizza as well, so you aren’t limited to just one style of pizza if you decide to order from them. To be fair, I don’t really know what the difference is, as both are square, but the internet seems to think that a Sicilian style crust is a lot more like a focaccia.
I went for the bulgogi meatball flavor pizza ($30) because I’m a sucker for Korean flavors. Plus I recently put kimchi on my own pizza at home, and it was a revelation, so I knew it was something I already enjoyed. The pizza is basically bulgogi meatballs, kimchi and scallions with a tomato sauce.
It looked great when it arrived, and I was excited to dig in. And yeah, it was larger than the other place, so I enjoyed it for several meals. However, the overall quality wasn’t quite as good. Something about it just didn’t wow me like the other pizza did. If someone I knew really wanted to order from them again, I’d probably do so willingly, I just don’t think I’d make it my top choice on my own.
