Food trucks can really vary in what they provide. Some are simple and provide the basics. Some are all about fusion providing Asian burritos. Some, like Wezy, take simple ingredients in a creative and new style that you may not see even at a restaurant. I kept seeing their sign advertising “friend chicken and mochi”, so one day I stopped by to give it a try. It’s called The Johnny Choy ($13) and it comes with grilled mochi, panko fried chicken and Brussels sprouts with a sweet and spicy barbecue sauce. They also provide other bowls, like the Bob Marley, which is an Asian fusion style bowl.
The food looked great when I opened it up. Sadly, I was hoping for a few more sprouts, as they were few and far between. The chicken was really crispy and moist, so I was pleasantly surprised there. The mochi was an interesting addition. But the sauce, it was just way too sweet for me. It kind of unbalanced the flavors, but perhaps with more sprouts, it could have helped. Or more spiciness. Overall, I was happy with it, but not enough I would probably have it again.
