I was in need of a quick lunch when the husband was away on a work trip, so I headed to the nearby Truck Stop to see what was available, and I decided it would be a good time to try the Asian fusion food from Spork and Stix. I love Asian flavors, so I was excited to give it a try. Their menu is fairly simple, they usually offer a rice box with a variety of toppings or a noodle bowl that allows you to design on your own. The noodle bowls have three different sauces (Korean spicy sauce, tom yum sauce and spicy green curry sauce) and a few different proteins (or a veggie option) to choose from, so you really get to select things to match your palate.
I went with the noodle bowl. I decided on Korean spicy sauce, mostly because I think I’m fairly addicted to spicy Korean food at the moment and beef bulgogi to go on top. I waited patiently for them to put my bowl together, and I headed home to give it a try.
The beef was really tender and delicious, and the noodles were not at all chewy as many noodle bowls in the bay area seem to be. The sauce was thick and delicious, and I just kept wanting to eat every bite. And while it made for a hefty and delicious lunch, it is very protein and carb heavy. The noodle bowls include a few vegetables, but it definitely could have been a few more vegetables and a bit less meat, at least for lunch. (Maybe next time vegetarian?) But overall, I was really happy with everything I ate, so it’s definitely staying on the list for other days when it’s cold and I need a quick, hot lunch.
Score: 4/5
Recommendation: Anything with spicy Korean sauce, it was delicious!
