I’m not usually that excited about rotisserie chicken. It’s just not something I think to go out and get on a regular basis. That being said, every time I see Roadside Rotisserie at a food truck park, there is always a line. Maybe I’m missing something I didn’t know about? So one day, I finally decided I should give it a try and see what all the fuss is all about.
The chicken comes in three sizes (1/4, 1/2 or a whole chicken). This is not including sides, but they have some available including potatoes, Brussels sprouts and kale salad. Or if you really want to go for the extra chicken goodness, they offer some chicken pate. Of course, if you don’t like chicken, they also offer ribs or some cold wraps if that is your preference for the day.
I opted for the half chicken ($10) and the 50/50 potatoes and sprouts ($6). So it’s not a cheap lunch. Or a small lunch for that matter, but if you’re home alone for the week, you can splurge on lunch and go for a salad for dinner and still be okay.
Of course, the half chicken means breast and thigh, not two thighs which would be the ideal half, but it did give me the chance to try the breast to see how well they managed with white meat which is always one of the trickier parts to get right. The chicken was really flavorful, and all of it melted in the mouth. It was probably some of the best rotisserie chicken I’ve ever eaten, which I think really says something. The potatoes were also fantastic, but the sprouts were a bit lacking in the excitement department, which is unfortunate because I love a good sprout.
I definitely would eat this chicken again in a heartbeat. In fact, it was so good, I want to try the ribs and whatever else they may rotisserie up on any given day. Given the food is just out there for all to see when you order, everything that was coming out looked pretty tasty. Or maybe grab a cold wrap for lunch. I am definitely going to make an effort to try the entire menu!
Score: 4.5/5
Recommendation: Chicken. And then some more chicken. Maybe with extra chicken.
