Living in the UK for several years gave me a huge appreciation for Indian Food. One of the sad things about moving back to the US is that it is now much harder to find amazing Indian food, but I still try my hardest to experience new places that might somehow compare.
I was incredibly curious by Curry Up Now as the Food Truck is often serving up Indian-style wraps and bowls in my area. I decided to try one of the bowls and a samosa for lunch one day. I went with the Punjabi by Nature which is a mix of saag paneer and chicken tikka masala: two fairly standard dishes you will find at most curry houses.
On the whole, I enjoyed the dishes, but I wasn’t blown away. The flavors were spicy yet not overpowering in the punjabi by nature, but it felt like a lot of sauce without much else. The samosa was nice, but I’ve had and made better ones, and the standard American-style chutneys I see everywhere were served with it. (Where is my mango chutney people?)
If I were in the mood for a quick bite of Indian for lunch, I would be very tempted to return, but I think it will only hit the tip of my Indian craving, not dig deep to satisfy me deeply.
Score: 3.5/5
Too bad! Palak/saag paneer and chicken tikka masala are my faves. Bummer that they weren’t mind-blowing from this place.
They were nice! Just not amazing! Which is always sad for me!
