I’m a sucker for baked goods, whether sweet or savory, so when I find out that a new bakery has opened up relatively close, of course I’m going to check it out. Their menu looked pretty interesting, with a selection of pastries (yes, please), cookies (yes, please) and stuffed French toast (I have no idea what it is, but also yes, please). So I headed here one day to get a selection of cookies, and I have returned many times since to give other menu items a try!
They have a wide selection of cookies, including some stuffed with peanut butter and jelly or nutella. Their cookies do seem to be one of their signature bakes, and I think I’ve tried most of them by now. While they aren’t cheap ($4 a piece), they are quite big and packed with interesting flavors that aren’t sickly sweet, and sometimes with a bit of childhood nostalgia. Of course, I have my favorites, but on the whole, most of them have been pretty fantastic.
They also do a selection of pastries, and while I have my eye on the breakfast danish (It has bacon jam and an egg baked right into it!), so far I’ve only had the pecan twice-baked croissant and the ham and cheese croissant. Both of them were fantastic, and run around the $6 mark which is a fairly standard price for pastries these days.
The last thing I’ve tried is the stuffed French toast. It looks more like breakfast bread pudding, which I am okay with as bread pudding is one of my favorite desserts. I tried the savory one with kale and mushrooms, and it was really tasty. I also got the Beshert, with blueberries, cream cheese and whisky, and it made for a delicious, boozy tasting weekend Brunch. They run around $12 a portion, which is a bit pricey, but it’s a hefty portion and very satisfying.
There are other things to choose from including sandwiches and an “Adult lunchable”, or they have some epic looking cereal treats that you could get. The staff is also incredibly friendly, and have been amazing every time I’ve gone in. I will definitely be going back often (and not just because I won their grand opening raffle), but because the baked goods are amazing and not ridiculously priced. I’ll be eating cookies for awhile, but that breakfast danish is calling my name, and I hope to grab one soon.
Score: 4.5/5
Recommendation: I love the Brookie, and the French toast is a winner!
