At-home meal kits and takeaways are my bread and butter for being able to not cook these days, and I was really in the mood to try out the Indian restaurant nearby. I do make a mean curry, both veggie and meat-laden, so I was looking for something a bit extra that I couldn’t do easily at home, and it seemed Besharam could do it in spades.
We decided on a spicy snack, a few starters to share and a lamb meatball stew with rice. It was pretty easy to pick up, and they now have outdoor dining, so if you feel like you want to eat there, it’s definitely an option. The menu also has a lot of vegetarian options if that is what you’re looking for!
The snack was pretty tasty with a bunch of crispy bits with some nice spice to it. We had the dahi wada which is basically a lentil fritter covered in yogurt and tamarind and cilantro chutneys. We also ordered the pav nada, a potato fritter served on a bun with a delicious sauce. Finally, we shared some of Paresh’s parathas which are flaky breads filled with blue cheese with a cranberry dipping sauce. All of the starters had great seasoning and we were really happy with all three of them.
The lamb meatball stew was basically a lamb meatball curry, so I knew what to expect, and it was a delicious version of it. The rice was really well done, and even though I may make it better at home, it was a really well done version.
Overall, all the food at Besharam was top notch, and definitely leaning toward elevated and tasty versions of Indian street food. If you want a place to get a few snacks and drinks with Indian flare, it’s definitely a place you should think about going (or ordering in!)
Score: 4.5/5
Recommendation: Paresh’s parathas are a no brainer if you like blue cheese, bread and a tangy cranberry sauce!
