Sometimes you meticulously plan dinners for when friends are visiting, and sometimes you just play it by ear and look for something in whatever area you find yourselves in around dinner time. The latter is how I discovered Angie’s Pizza. We were looking for a pretty chill places with some vegetarian options, and we decided pizza was a good choice for both the veggies and the meat eaters alike.
We ordered a few pizzas to start: Two veggie and one with meat! The margherita was pretty tasty, even if I’m not usually a huge fan as I find the toppings a bit uninteresting (yes I’m a weirdo). The pepperoni pizza and the mushroom and asparagus were both fantastic as well. The crust on all of the pizzas was really crisp on the outside and chewy in the middle, and everyone really seemed to enjoy everyone one that they tried! They were so good in fact, we ordered a fourth as some of us were still hungry, and the ham and pea pizza turned out to be another excellent choice.
The wine list was also pretty amazing for having a such a small selection. There was a wide range of ages and of wines from around the world, and we definitely found one that was right up our alley. Some of us wanted to end on a sweet note, and the only desserts they have on the menu are sundaes, so we ordered one of each so we could give them both a try. The toppings on both were really flavorful, even if the dish was a bit small for the amount of ice cream they provided!
Dinner at Angie’s ended up being a special treat for a place we just stumbled across. We all really enjoyed ourselves, and the service was attentive but not rushed. It hit the spot for the vegetarian in the group, and if I lived in the area, I could see myself visiting on many occasions. Add in a great wine list, and it’s definitely a neighborhood favorite!
Score: 4.5/5
Recommendation: Any of the pizzas were great, but end with a sundae for sure!
